A scrap of fabric...where could this have come from?

As you ponder, you notice something printed on the underside: "AR".

You look up, startled at the sudden voice, to see the cat curled up on the dresser. How long were they there?!

"You've found the first clue. Now go search the next room, there's more to discover!"

"Oh, and I'd recommend keeping a note of these these fabric scraps...it may come in handy later!"

The cat gives you a wink, stretches luxuriously and jumps down, disappearing through a hole in the wall.
